About Gilda/Contact

Gilda was born in Caracas in 1976. From an early age she took a keen interest in art in general and enjoyed visiting the museum of Fine Arts, the National Gallery of Arts and the museum of Modern Art  in Caracas with her parents. At the age of nine, she began drawing, painting and took calligraphy lessons with professor Carmen Elena Rodriguez de Guillen and later studied the technique of oil-painting with the Uruguayan professor Juan Carlos Gayoso.  As a teen-ager she discovered Impressionist painting, a technique that has inspired her over the years.  Among the painters who have had a notable influence on her are the Venezuelans Armando Reveron and Martin Tovar y Tovar, the Flemish Rubens and Rembrandt, the Impressionists Claude Monet, Edgar Degas, Eduard Manet, Mary Cassat and August Renoir, and the expressionist Vincent van Gogh.
